Principal Tutor: Susana B. Bravo

Personal description:

I am a Spanish language tutor in my mid thirties living and working in London. I truly love teaching! What I find gives me the most satisfaction is the feeling of being helpful to people, and the most rewarding thing of all to me is to see them learn and improve as a direct result of my teaching skills.

I like travelling a lot and I have regularly done it since I was a small child, so I have become very conscious regarding the importance of communication and understanding of other languages, which is much more than just learning words.

As a native speaker, I love my language and Spanish culture so much that not only do I have a deep knowledge of Spanish but I also have the appropriate academic degree and skills to teach the Spanish language up to the highest level. I particularly focus on non-Spanish speaker's preconceived ideas of how the Spanish language is spoken because primarily it is not the same mastering your own language than it is knowing how to teach it efficiently to non-speakers of the particular language in question. The idiosyncrasies to be found in any language are a most important element which a language tutor should try to convey to their students, I believe I am very efficient in conveying this principle to my Spanish language students.

I am also very much involved in the world of art, crafts and design.

Teaching experience:

I have extensive experience in tutoring having recently been teaching Spanish at the prestigious STOWE SCHOOL in Buckinghamshire. My responsibilities included teaching on a one to one basis, along with teaching various smaller and larger groups, inclusive of all ages ranging from 13 to 18 years old.

I was primarily focused on tutoring A-LEVEL oral exam students whose outstanding marks as a result had risen well above the average grades expected for those finals. I was in charge of training the students entering IGCSE exam and I was also practising the interviews for the Oxbridge applicants for Spanish.

I was previously teaching in London privately to PREP-School children, and before the UK experience I was teaching Spanish in Bilbao-Spain for the “Hemingway Institute” to small groups and giving private lessons to adults, including PROFICIENCY level. References are available!

Teaching approach:

I am able to spot very quickly the weakest and the strongest points of my students so that I can focus on the particular needs of every student, and adapt and create the most convenient lesson for them. Each lesson will be tailored to fit the needs of the particular scholar.

I have mastered a wide range of tutoring methods which affords me the luxury to be very flexible in teaching and to make each lesson unique.

I am very happy to say that most of my students have told me they enjoy my teaching style very much and have described me as "strict but fun".

I like resolving all the doubts that students have because there are many questions that cannot be answered by just looking in books.

Lessons can be held in or at the most convenient place for the student; and they can also be held online if required.
